World Hunger Solutions

Hunger is a worldwide issue with many possible solutions. Many charities and organizations have multiple ways that they help.
Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East are all places that all need hunger relief. “It is estimated that 40,000 people die each day from hunger and nutrition-related illnesses all around the world” (ProQuest Staff). Organizations such as CRS, WFP, Oxfam, and UNICEF have put forth the effort to increase food aid to these affected areas.
Collecting money is one way that proves to be effective when trying to raise money for the fight to end world hunger. Anyone can propose the idea to his or her school if he or she could raise money to put forth to an organization and can also do the same thing at your church or religious place. In many of these situations the charities or organizations receive lots of money (Amos).
The Catholic Relief Service and the World Food Programme both provide emergency food aid and natural disaster response. Natural disasters can be very serious in countries that are already starving. The effects of these disasters can destroy crops or buildings or can slow down transportation of food. The solution to this problem is for organizations to respond by bringing more food or seed for crops for the farmers whose crops got destroyed.
Having an education is critical if people in starving countries want a way to stay healthy and get money for food. If anyone doesn’t have an education, it is really hard to find a stable job no matter where he or she lives. The CRS reports that they “support education activities in three areas: crisis areas, areas that are transitioning from a crisis to stability, and relatively stable areas.” They teach basic education, and maternal and health education. This can be for teachers or for aspiring doctors living in the area having problems. The Catholic Relief Service also provides school meals which encourage kids to come to school so they can start out having an education instead of waiting.
The World Food Programme gives treatment for diseases such as HIV/AIDS. When the treatment works it is easier for people to recover and become nourished. WFP says “People living with HIV need more calories and nutrients in their diet, but they already may have low appetites and be less able to absorb the nutrients in their food,” which is a big problem if they are already malnourished before having HIV. WFP’s food and nutrition support plays a very important role in reducing food insecurity and malnutrition caused by HIV.
Many charities are working hard to solve the global hunger problem in affected areas and so far hunger seems to be easing.
